Into the forest near Grinzing

Yesterday evening, we walked up a curvy path past rustic biergartens and rows and rows of vineyards.

It was so peaceful to venture up this hill. We had no idea where we were going, only that it looked like a place we might end up somewhere fantastic.

About mid-way up, in front of a beautiful vineyard.

After an hour or so of walking, look how far up we climbed! Vienna is waaaay down there on the left.

Half way back down, we stopped for dinner at a heurigen, a local tavern. The owners hang pine branches outside to distinguish them from other houses. It was so marvelous. A violinist and accordionist came to play.

Yay vineyards! Please tell me you sampled--it's the only culturally appropriate thing to do ;)
